BH Cosmetics Shaaanxo Palette Review

Hello beauties,

I would like to start this post by saying I’m so happy for Shaaanxo. As a fellow beauty blogger I can only image the joy she feels having created this palette and seeing it come through to the gorgeous product it is today. I hope one day to be half as lucky to collaborate with a popular brand to create a product of my own. I hope any lover of the beauty commute has love for the incredible things so many beauty bloggers have been able to create. That’s enough of mt mushy sappy sentiment onto my review.

This palette is only sold on the BH Cosmetics website, it retails for $14.50, you receive 18 colors in total, 9 eyeshadows, and 9 lip colors. The packaging is gorgeous and the double sided design is incredibly innovative. The shade range in both the lip side and eyeshadow side is awesome. The eyeshadows are pigmented, apply well wet or dry, and last on the lid when used with an eyeshadow primer or base. I love the shade range as well. I think there is a good mix of light and dark and matte and shimmer.

The lip colors are pigmented, mix well together, and apply well to the lips. However, they are a bit drying, don’t last long, and as you can expect because they are in a palette, not easy for everyday portability.

One thing I would like to note about this palette that is a BIG turn off for me is the smell. I’m not sure if it’s the packaging, the formula of the products, or what but this palette has a very chemically smell. I’m pretty sensitive to scents so some of you might not notice it but this palette has honestly been difficult to reach for for that reason. I’ve had mine for about 3+ weeks now and I thought over time the smell would fade but it still stinks. I don’t know how else to describe the scent other than to say it smells like a factory.

If it weren’t for the smell of the packaging I would say this palette is a home run. The quality of the products and innovative packaging really make this palette outstanding and for $14.50 you get one amazing palette.

Have you guys tried this palette? If so let me know in the comments below. Haven’t tried it? Let me know why not.

How to Get Glowing Skin!

Hello beauties,

Thanks for stopping by my blog today :) I'm so happy to have you here. I've been getting lots of questions on how to get glowing radiant skin for summer, and I have some tips to share with you. I decided to throw in a fun summery eyeshadow look too!

My number one tip for radiant skin, and you've all heard it before, and yes I'm going to say it again, drink lots of water! If you are hydrated your skin will be more hydrated and in turn have a natural glow.

Secondly, I really love to add a liquid highlight under my foundation. I love the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl! I add a little bit to the high points of the face like my cheek bones, center of my nose, and middle of the forehead. I do this under my foundation because this adds a look of radiance from within.

Lightweight layering is another amazing technique to achieve radiant-looking skin. Once you've drank your water and highlighted the skin, a light layer of a light coverage foundation will help your skin appear luminous.  It's also a great way to apply foundation in the summer heat. If you need extra coverage, use a concealer of specific areas. Using a light layer at first and building layers up as you need. The "foundation" I've been using recently is the It Cosmetics CC+, it has SPF 50, it's lightweight, has light coverage, and wears really well in the summer heat.

Of course if you want to look bronzed bronzer is your best friend. I love to use Beauty For Real For Aerie Glow Skin in Coco Cabana to contour. It's a cream stick that can be placed right in the hollows of the face and it blends out beautifully. Sometimes if I feel I need a little more color I will go over-top with a powder bronzer but it's not necessary.

Another light trick I like to use to add a beautiful glow to the cheeks is use two different shades. I love to add one color all over the cheeks and then add another shade right to the apples of the cheeks. My favorite blushes of the moment are Makeup Geek Bliss and Spell Bound

I know I talked about highlighting under foundation, but it's also fantastic to add a little highlight above foundation to the tops of the cheek bones. ColourPop has amazing highlighters, Smoke N' Whistles is one of my favorites. Another favorite of mine at the moment is Makeup Geek eyeshadow in Shimma Shimma

Sometimes it can be easy to add too much glow to the skin, but it's important to remember that the summer heat and sun will add a natural dewy glow to the skin.

Have a great summer and don't forget to drink lots of water! You are beautiful with and without makeup!

Makeup Geek Haul + Review

Hello beauties,

Makeupgeek is a brand I have been dying to try for so long now! I've created imaginary carts more times then I can count. That's why I'm even more excited to bring you this review today! I wanted to get my hands on a range of items so I could get an idea of the brand. I picked up an eye brush, two blushes, four eyeshadows, and four of the foiled eyeshadows.

Yes I'm a brush addict. If I'm trying out a new brush brand, I like to start with eye brushes and more than face brushes. This is for a couple reasons. For one, eye brushes are generally cheaper so I'm not breaking the bank to try a new brand, and also if a brand can do an eye brush well, I'm willing to try their face brushes. I chose the Soft Dome Brush. I love the size and shape of this brush. It has a little point on the end and it's great for getting into the crease and blending out shadows. This brush is a great price at $7.99. The quality is wonderful, it's soft, doesn't shed, and it works well at blending and placing shadows on the lid.

The blushes are my favorite item I purchased. The formula of these blushes is outstanding! They are smooth, pigmented, easy to blend and apply, and best of all they last on the cheek throughout the entire day!

Spell Bound is a soft mauve rose shade. While there is no glitter or shimmer, this blush does leave a beautiful soft glow on the cheeks. Spell Bound is a gorgeous shade that I think a lot of skin tone can pull off. It is buildable so if you are fair like I am, a little goes a long way but if your skin tone is more deep you could really get a beautiful flush with this blush.

The second blush I picked up is Bliss and this shade is wonderful! This is a little coral shade and as you can see in the swatch it is a soft coral. This shade is so wonderful because oftentimes with shades like this, the color payoff is too vibrant. Similar to Spell Bound, Bliss is buildable, smooth, easy to work with and blend, and also lasts all day on the cheeks!  Makeupgeek blushes retail for $9.99 which I think is a good price for the size and amazing quality of the product.

Moving on to the eyeshadows. Their eyeshadows are extremely popular on YouTube and else where. I have been waiting forever to get my hands on a few shades to try out. Shimma Shimma is one in particular that I have heard rave reviews on. This is my kind of shade. I love some shimmer in my life and this shade is perfect. It's creamy, pigmented, and packs a big punch. It's also extremely buildable so if you just wanted a little glow, use a small amount and for more highlight use a little more. This eyeshadow is great for a brow bone and inner corner highlight but can also be used to highlight the center of the lid or the cheek bones!

Prom Night is the second eyeshadow I went with. I was drawn to Prom Night and Shimma Shimma because one of my go-to eyeshadow looks is to use Nylon and Satin Taupe from MAC. Prom Night and Shimma Shimma resemble those MAC shades but they are not exact dupes in color or formula.  Prom Night is a great taupe with a little purple hint to it and I love this color for the crease and outer corner.

Third shadow is Unexpected. I picked this shade because I love a plum colored matte shades. As a pale gal, browns can sometimes look a little moody on my skin, so for carving out the crease of my eye I tend to gravitate towards shades like Unexpected. Makeupgeek matte shades are amazing! The formula is just perfect. They are super matte, blendable, and the color actually stays strong. Some matte shades all blend out to look like the same color but the two matte shades I've tried stay true to their color.

The last original formula eyeshadow I have is Peach Smoothie. I have heard so many awesome things about this eyeshadow. It is a soft matte peach beige shade. I love to use this as my first blending color in the crease.

I've found all of the shadows are a little bit powdery so make sure you are tapping off your brush before applying eyeshadow to the lid to avoid fallout. These retail for $5.99 which is a pretty good price for the quality. I wish they were a little cheaper, but compared to MAC $5.99 is an awesome price!

I thought the foiled eyeshadows would be my favorite but actually these are my least favorite products. The swatches look INCREDIBLE! However, these are a little difficult to work with. After watching Marlena's video on her new 10 foiled shadow where she talks a little bit on how to use these shadows, I've found it's best to sweep a dense concealer brush across the product and do that same motion on the eye lid. Sweep the shadow in one direction on the lid with a little bit of pressure. I also find they fade really quickly. Even with a base and really packing the shadow on the color intensity is dulled down after a few minutes. These shadows retail for $9.99 which I think it a little pricey for these shadows. The pan is extremely small and it takes a lot of product to get a great color intensity.

The three shades I went with are Fantasy, Mesmerized, and Flamethrower. If you know me and my channel Fantasy screams ME! I love mint and this shade is beautiful! It is a frosty mint shade. I was drawn to Mesmerized because it looks a little like Prom Night with more shine. It's a taupe with a little purple throughout. Flamethrower is an intense true copper shade.

If you are interested in trying these foiled eyeshadows I recommend starting with one or two shades to see if you like the formula and if you can work with these type of shadows.

As a whole, I'm extremely happy with everything I've purchased. What I would recommend most are the blushes! They are just fantastic and after trying these two I want to try all of her shades! I'm also extremely interested in trying out more Makeupgeek brushes and their original eyeshadows. I don't know if at this time I would purchase any more of the Foiled eyeshadows.

Thanks so much for reading! Have a beautiful day!

CoverGirl Outlast Foundation, Primer, & Intensify Me Liner Review!

Hello beauties,

First off, happy Friday!! Who is excited for the weekend? I know I am! We are having a Jurassic Park marathon this weekend in preparation for Jurassic World and I'm super pumped!!

On to the makeup :) Covergirl recently released some new products and many of you were interested in my thoughts on the new Covergirl Outlast Stay Luminous Foundation! Once I found the new display, I couldn't help but pick up the Covergirl Outlast All-Day Primer and the Covergirl Intensify Me! Liquid Eyeliner.

CoverGirl Outlast Stay Luminous Lasting Natural Foundation:

CoverGirl Outlast All Day Primer Clear:

CoverGirl Intensify Me! Liquid Liner Intense Black 210:

Let's start with the Covergirl Outlast Primer! This is my favorite product out of the bunch. As you can see in the photos down below this primer really does even out the skin, it also has a little bit of a tacky feel to it which helps any foundation stay in place! In the middle photo below you can see I have the primer on one side of my face and no primer on the other to show how amazing the primer makes the skin look. You are going to want to give the primer about 3-5 minutes to set before applying foundation because of the tacky texture.

On to the Covergirl Outlast Stay Luminous Foundation! I had high hopes for this product! I adore the Covergirl 3-in-1 Foundation and was hoping this foundation would have similar qualities, just with a bit of a luminous finish. Sadly, this is not the case. I don't like this foundation. It's too thick, feels heavy on the skin, doesn't have good coverage, and fades really strangely throughout the day. It comes off in strange patches and ends up making the skin look extremely dry (and I already suffer from dry skin, that's why I want a luminous foundation).  I would not recommend this foundation. While I do like the primer I don't find it helped this foundation at all. In the photos below I have the primer with foundation on your left and the foundation without primer on your right.

Last we have the CoverGirl Intensify Me! Liquid Liner Intense Black 210. This liner is extremely black,  pigmented, not patchy at all, pretty easy to use, and does not come off on the lid. However, the deal breaker for me is that is does flake throughout the day. Also I don't find myself needing the ability to lay my liquid liner flat for a thick line since I don't want my entire eye covered with liquid liner.

To sum up: I would recommend the Covergirl Outlast Primer but would not recommend the Covergirl Stay Luminous Foundation or the Intensify Me Liquid Eyeliner.

Let me know if you have tried these products, and if so, did they work for you?

Second ColourPop Haul & Review

Hello beauties,

Happy first birthday ColourPop!!

If you have been watching my channel for the past month you will know I've been a little ColourPop obsessed! After trying out the products from my first order, I could not wait to get my hands on more of their products!

Some of my favorite products from my first order were the Lippie Sticks! I'm a lip junkie! I find you can change up an entire look by switching up your lip color. Their Lippie Sticks are incredible and I promise I'm not just saying that to justify the fact that I now own six of them!

During this order I learned how amazing their customer service is! I received Chella by accident but my order was placed for Fiesta. The issue was solved in less than 24 hours of my receiving the order. I got to keep Chella and they sent me a code to order Fiesta with free shipping :)

Chella is a cream finish shade that is pigmented, creamy, and is a beautiful little soft pink! Tipsy is a soft neon orange/coral, it is a glossy finish so it does have a bit of shine but it not as shiny as their hyper-glossy formula!  I really wanted to try out their matte formula and I love me a bold lip color! Creature is the one I decided to go with and I'm extremely happy with my choice! It's super pigmented and it's not drying. I do find however it is not as easy to apply as their other formulas. It is a little bit patchy on the first application so it does require a little work and a little building up. It also just not last as long on the lips as their other formulas, it does fade when eating and drinking but the color is amazing and I'm willing to work with it a little especially considering it's FIVE DOLLARS! Also a super plus is the Lippie Sticks smell amazing!

ColourPop actually just released some new bronzers and I was really excited to try one out! The formula of their powder products is extremely interesting. It looks like a powder in the pot, feels like a cream to the touch, and blends like a dream. The shade I chose for the bronzer is Carry-On. This a great shade for fair skin! I find it works really well as a contour and blends out perfectly!

Birthday Suit is the second blush I've tried from ColourPop and this one is a satin finish. I enjoy both their matte and their satin formula blushes. They are both smooth, pigmented, and last really well on the skin throughout the whole day.

ColourPop was so sweet to celebrate their first birthday by creating a "Birthday Girl" eyeshadow that they offered for free with any purchase for a few days. This was a big reason for placing my second order ;) I love the pink packaging they decided to use for this special eyeshadow. Birthday Girl is a metallic formula which, as I did mention in my first review, is my least favorite formula. This is not to say I do not like the metallic shadows. I just find they have a bit of fallout, they lose a bit of pigmentation after the first use, and they can be a little crumbly.

Birthday Girl is a gorgeous shimmery light golden shade. The shadow I decided to order this time around is Cricket and as  you can see in the photo below is a beautiful plum. It does have glitter throughout and is so super gorgeous!

I cannot express my love for this brand enough! Their products are amazing quality, their site is incredible (love that they swatch products on three different skin tones), and their prices are PERFECT! Honestly, I think other brands have some real competition here! With products this amazing and prices you can't find anywhere else (seriously the drugstore has more expensive prices!) ColourPop has quickly become one of my favorite brands! Can't wait to see what they do next.

If you have tried anything from ColourPop what is your favorite item?

May Favorites 2015

Hello beauties,

Happy first of June! ColourPop has stole the show this month and I've been crazy about all of the products I purchased. I have a full video Haul + Review as well as a blog post featuring all of the items I have purchased so far and there is more to come. I have fewer beauty favorites this month don't worry though I've got lots of lifestyle goodies to share with you ;)

Let's start first with the makeup favorites :) this month I have so many ColourPop favorites I could not pick just one, but being the lip junkie that I am, I did throw in my favorite lip combo of the month. Which starts with ColourPop Lip Liner in Fern topped off with an unlikely companion, ColourPop Lippie Stick in Frida. I have said it before and I'll say it again... I LOVE mixing and matching my lip colors to create fun unique costume shades and this combo has been an amazing find for me!

You know those t-shirts that say "All I Need is Coffee & Mascara"? I need one of those in my life BUT I need it to say "All I Need is Coffee, Mascara, Lipstick, Blush, Eyeshadow..." no but really as a redhead I can NOT put together any makeup look without mascara unless I want to look like a cupcake without the frosting, I mean what's the point right? ;) This Butter London Iconoclast Mega Volume Mascara looks amazing on it's own but is killer with some false eyelashes (I love Adrell Demi 120 lashes cut in half). This mascara added amazing length, lasts all day, and makes my lashes look thick and full.

Butter London Iconoclast Mega Volume Mascara:

Bronzer for pale gals like me is like finding a four leaf clover in a desert. It's a rare thing and if/when you find it you best hold on! Leighannsays used to use this bronzer a while back and I'm finally trying it out! Why did I wait so long when I know everything Leighann mentions is a must try? I don't know but I'm using it now and it's rocking my world! While it's matte it is not dull in any way. This bronzer warms up the skin so beautifully and wearing perfectly throughout the day! I love to use this to warm up my skin and apply it to the outer parts of the face with a big fluffy brush. This is going to be perfect for spring and with summer coming up I can't wait to see how this looks on already sun-kissed skin.

Physician Formula Bronze Booster Medium/Dark:

Rocking two coats of the Butter London Iconoclast Mega Volume Mascara!

Moving right along to my song favorite of the month. Mary Lambert - Secrets
( This song speaks to my soul. I've got one more thing to say about this song; do not waste any more time trying to be anyone else but yourself! Oh and don't ever grow up if you don't want to ;)

Many of  you might know that Mad Men ended this month and seriously I don't think I'm over this yet!  I like to think Mad Men got me through college in some ways. Alex and I spent hours binge watching Mad Men on Netflix and it has been a part  of my Sunday nights since about 2010 when I started watching, I was a little late to the game but I was sure there to cross the finish line!

I have five movie favorites this month. Surprisingly I went to the movies four times this month and it was wonderful!

My first movie favorite is a movie that was made in 2007 called Man From Earth. This movie was so great! It was simple, thoughtful, and captivating. It's about a college professor who has been alive for 14,000 years. Due to the fact that he does not age, he must move every ten years before those around him start to ask questions. However this time he decides to tell his colleagues. The movie develops as his intelligent professor colleagues start to ask him about his life. There are some interesting discoveries as the main character John tells the tales of his life as he can remember it.

The other three movies that I saw in theaters were Pitch Perfect 2, Age of Adeline, and Avengers Age of Ultron. I have this strange obsession with watching people dance and I love to hear people sing and Pitch Perfect 2 was funny and included both singing and dancing! Age of Adeline was not as great as I was hoping. Blake Lively is gorgeous and performs beautifully however there was a little more narration than I would have preferred. As for Avengers Age of Ultron, it was good and exactly what I expected. It had lots of action and the humor which is one of my favorite parts of the Avengers movies was spot on!

Thank you so much for all of your support, and as always YOU are my most favorite for this month and all month!

Top 5 Palettes!

Hello beauties,

Who doesn't love a great makeup palette? I'm a palette collector myself and I just can't seem to pass up a good looking palette. While my palette drawer is overflowing, I of course have some palettes that I reach for more than others! Here are my top five palettes of the moment!

The Revealed 2 Palette has been the best surprise palette for me! I received the Revealed 2 in a BoxyCharm box. It has quickly become one of my all time favorite palettes. The shade range is magnificent. The shadows are a little bit powdery, but honestly they are so pigmented and blend out so beautifully, I cannot believe this palette is only $20-30! I have a complete video review on the Revealed and Revealed Two palette.

Thank you GetGlamGrace for gifting this palette to me last year! This is another surprise love. When this palette first released I was on the fence about picking it up. Luckily my friend Grace knew better for me! I'm constantly reaching for this palette not only for myself, but for my clients as well. The top row is matte and these shades are creamy, pigmented, extremely matte, and blend out beautifully. The bottom row is shimmer/satin shades and these are breathtaking! They are smooth, pigmented, and perform both wet and dry!

Oh my beloved NAKED 3 palette! As a makeup enthusiast I own all three of the NAKED palettes by Urban Decay, and as a natural red head with fair skin the NAKED 3 is my favorite. The rose tones just work so incredibly well for fair skin. Urban Decay knows how to formulate eyeshadows. Every shade in this palette is pigmented, blendable, and best of all it's just overall a fun palette! I love to use the shimmer shades with a little bit of MAC Fix+ to really make them stand out!

This is a palette I don't hear being talked about a lot and I don't know why! It is amazing! These matte shades have a little bit of a satin look to them but NO shimmer or glitter at all. Each shade looks matte on the lid and blend out like a dream. The largest shade in the palette, Transforming Pearl, can be used as a base shade to turn any of these matte shadows into a pearlized eyeshadow.

It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Vol. 1 Palette -

I have two words to say about this palette... Coco powder! YES this palette smells like chocolate! Too Faced uses actually coco powder in the formula of many of their products and that is what gives this palette is amazing smell. BUT it is an eyeshadow palette, not a chocolate bar so I do have a few other things to say about it.  The formula of these shadows is smooth and pigmented. The matte shades are some of my favorites in this palette. You can easily take a look from day to night or colorful to neutral with just a couple steps!

Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette -

From rose tones to chocolate scented eyeshadows, all five of these palettes have my heart! Which palette has yours?

ColourPop Review

Hello beauties! Welcome to my first blog post on my new blog! :) Like everyone else in the beauty community right now I could NOT wait to get my hands on some ColourPop products. I wanted to get a little bit of everything so I could let you guys know my thoughts on the line!

One of the products I was most excited to get my hands on was the KathleenLights quad! KathleenLights is a gorgeous YouTube beauty blogger and she collaborated with ColourPop to create a beautiful shadow collection.

This quad is so wonderful because it has a range of finishes. Kathleenlights is a pearlized, Blaze is a metallic, Cornelious and Glow are matte. These products are extremely unique; they look as though they are a powder but they have a creamy texture and they have a powdery yet cream look on the skin.

I did pick up two individual eyeshadows to try out! Snap Dragon is a matte finish and Acron is a pearlized. I think the matte and pearlized are my favorite formulas. Blaze, which is a metallic finish, seems to have higher pigmention on the first layer but is not as metallic after the first layer is used. I did pick up one of the new highlighters in Smoke N Whistles and have found after swatching them side by side, Acron and Smoke N Whistles are pretty much identical so I'd say go with one or the other!

I wanted to create a look using all of the shadows I picked up and this is what I came up with! Glow all over the lid up to the brow (applied with finger), Cornelious in the crease as a transition shade (applied with a dense crease brush), Blaze on the lid (applied with finger), Kathleenlights right in the center of the eye over top Blaze (applied with finger), Acron as a brow bone and inner corner highlight (applied with real techniques pixel point eyeliner brush), and Snap Dragon as a pop of color on the lower lash line (applied with real techniques pixel point eyeliner brush.)

The face products were some I couldn't wait to get my hands on the face products. These have the same texture as the eyeshadows. They look as they though are a powder but have a creamy texture. Just like the shadows, I love that the face products are buildable. This blush is so gorgeous and can work as a wash of color with one application, but they have be built up in intensity. Holiday, the shade I went with, has a matte finish. ColourPop actually just released their hightlighters. I picked up Smoke N Whistles which is just to die for! As I said up top the eyeshadow Acorn and Smoke N Whistles highlighter are so similar I would say just go with Smoke N Whistles so you can use it on the face and eyes! The highlighter size is larger, and trust me, if you love this shade as much as I do you will want the larger product ;)

Sporting Holiday on my cheeks and Smokin' Whistles on my cheek bones, down my nose, and a little on my forehead.

If you are new to my channel or blog I have a confession to make.... I'm OBSESSED with lip products. I already own way too many but my collection "magically" continues to grow! Phew glad I got that off my chest. Let's move on to these amazing lip swatches below. I picked up two lip liners and three lippie sticks. Frida and Brunch have a satin finish and Juicy has a hyper glossy finish. Both lip liners, Fern and Monkey are both matte shades that you are going to want to use when your lips are hydrated!

So pretty much I'm in love and want everything from the brand! If there is one thing I'm not over the moon in love with it would be Blaze from the Kathleenlights quad just because the first layer was a bit more pigmented and once that layer was used it's a little less sparkly. But it is still pigmented - it's not that is has lost all of it's pigmentation or anything! Everything from the brand is amazing. The pigmentation is absolutely amazing. The eyeshadows and face products are buildable, blendable, pigmented, creamy, and easy to use! The lip products are pigmented, easy to use, smooth, and feel comfortable on the lips.

Let me know if you have tried anything from the line or what you plan on picking up after seeing these photos and hearing my thoughts!
